The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will position more rescuers and emergency teams along the route of the annual anniversary celebration of Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide in Manila to assist those who might be injured.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said apart from the agency’s rescue teams, members of the Metro Manila Council Rescue Legion will also assist in the much-sought-for annual religious celebration of the annual anniversary celebration of Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide.
He said it will be the first time all Metro Manila local government units will be involved in the event with the deployment of 220 members of the rescue legion that took part in the rescue and rehabilitation efforts in Leyte and Samar last year.
“Each of them will be positioned along the routes, we will also have incident command posts,” said Tolentino.
Also, coordination with the Department of Health has been made for the putting up of medical stations that will be strategically located along the processional route and presence of more orthopedic personnel to render first aid to injured patients at the celebration.
“During the feast, men in barefoot brace thousands of people just to join the annual procession. So we really need more orthopedic teams,” said Tolentino.
This month’s route will be the same as in previous years: From Quirino Grandstand (Luneta), right Katigbak Drive thru P. Burgos, left Taft Ave. (P.Burgos) thru McArthur Bridge, right Palanca, thru under Quezon Bridge;
Left Quezon Blvd., right Fraternal, right Vergara, left Duque de Alba, left Castillejos, left Farnecio, right Arlegui, left Nepomuceno, left Aguila, right Carcer, right Hidalgo thru Plaza Del Carmen, left Bilibid Viejo thru Puyat;
Left Guzman, right Hidalgo, left Barbosa, right Globo de Oro thru under Quezon Bridge, right Palanca,right Villalobos thru Plaza Miranda to Quiapo Church.
